[TYPO3-english] How to use jumpurl?

Hey list,

I'd like to use jumpUrls for a newsletter (we're NOT using direct_mail, but 
an improved aux_newsmailer).
As our tt_news URLs are quite long, I'd like to shorten them.

Is there no easy way to just pass the result of typoLink() to another 
function and get the short URL back?

I already hat a look at direct_mail, but it doesn't look easy at all, what 
is done there.

My URLs are created by pagepath extension, so it might be difficult, to add 
other parameters to typoLink() function.

Any help would be appreciated!
