[TYPO3-english] Discussion: Dealing with translations in large multi-language sites

Hi,

This is not just a technical issue, but I hope to get some discussion here about 
how to deal with translating lots of content in large multi-language sites.

I'm currently working on a project in 3 languages that will evolve over a longer 
time period. We have just delivered the first stage for which we could send all 
text to the translators. But now a problem arises: in the following stages we 
will be adding new functionality, along with new pages, and new content 
scattered all over various types of plugins. Of course we don't want to 
translate everything again, just the new and changed parts.

Practical would be to have an overview of all records of which the original 
language text has changed. You get an exact diff when you open the translated 
record, but that requires going through all content records, headers, etc.

Unfortunately, the translators (an external company) do not work in TYPO3 
themselves.

How do you deal with this sort of translation issues, and are there some useful 
tools or extensions for this purpose?
