without an extension, you can kick out the standard menu CE "Recently updated pages" and put in your 
own TS by:

# kick it out
tt_content.menu.20.5 >
# build it up
tt_content.menu.20.5 = COA[whatever you want]
tt_content.menu.20.5 {
   [your TS here]
}
