[TYPO3-english] elements pane blank when clicking on page properties

Hi,

I've hit this problem on that I've been wrestling with for over a week  
and wondered if anyone can help. Basically, on a Typo 4.2.3 system an  
rtehtmlarea upgrade which went bad and had to be backed out seems to  
have affected my elememts pane as its showing blank when I click on  
page properties. Also things which used to work which don't any more  
are new page creations and page copies. Other areas of the back end  
are find with all the left hand menu items showing along with the page  
tree. I think its some sort of permissions thing with page ownership  
but don't know how to debug it further
