Thanks for this contribution.

I quickly had a look at this extension and I pointed out that in my case 
I could not use it as my SMTP server is listening on port 587 (and uses 
TLS which is supported by PEAR::Mail).

Thus you may add a port parameter which defaults to 25 in the 
ext_conf_template.txt file.
