[TYPO3-english] check update from TER

Hi all!
I use typo3 version 4.2.x; in the extension manager there is the check
update from TER for the installed extension, but I can't run it.
it download the file extensions.xml.gz, but when I check for old extension I
don't receive any notice.
If in the "import extension" I look for tt_news (example), I receive that
the version is 2.2.24 and the current version 2.5.0. If I click on the link
news in the "remote extension detail" show me that the version is 2.5.2.

What I wrong? How could I check the process?
