[TYPO3-english] TYPO3 4.3 and 'user' extensions - no output in FE?

Hi all,

Am upgrading a site to 4.3 and get no output in the FE at all anymore 
from my 'user' extensions (ie extensions without an extension key).
Any idea what changed in 4.3 that causes this (4.2 is ok)?

Records belonging to the ext are shown in the BE, only rendering in the 
FE is 'kaput'.

(it's not a site-specific thing, checked another site that uses 'user' 
extensions, no output either in 4.3, ok in 4.2)
