[TYPO3-english] php 5 and fastCGI - Incomplete Headers - idle timeout

My typo3 sites are constantly getting the 500 error. In the log the 
following are repeatedly posted:

[Tue Aug 04 15:16:55 2009] [error] [client 66.249.71.17] FastCGI: 
incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from server 
"/hsphere/shared/php5/bin/php"
[Tue Aug 04 15:17:02 2009] [error] [client 193.214.226.74] FastCGI: comm 
with (dynamic) server "/hsphere/shared/php5/bin/php" aborted: (first 
read) idle timeout (30 sec)

My ISP has php5 in php_fastCGI5 mode enabled.
