[TYPO3-english] RTE settings are ignored

Dear list,

this should be one of the most stupid questions you ever saw, but I 
really tried to do my homeworks (read htmlarea RTE documentation and did 
google without any success).

The problem is that RTE ignores any settings I enter in page and user 
TSConfig setup fields. I've ended up setting

	RTE.default.disabled = 1 in page setup TS of the root page

and

	setup.default.edit_RTE = 0 in user setup TS of the group

but RTE is still shown for text elements, not to say that specifying 
style classes, enabling/disabling buttons also did nothing.

Did I miss something obvious? Any hint is welcome.
