[TYPO3] localisation - both languages showing!!

was too impatient to read the documentation fully!!
I just needed to add to the typoscript: 
config.sys_language_overlay = 1

Hello,

 

I am having a problem with localisation... I have a language selector
menu, and the names of the pages in the menu are switching - but both
languages are showing all the time, regardless of what language is
selected.

I have managed to get the charsets to switch so the config areas are
working. What am I missing to get the content to switch also?
