[TYPO3] Lack of tt_news

I got all exited by Andreas talking about a complete rewrite of tt_news. 
I thought this project would make news items just as flexible and 
complex as normal pages.

If this is not the case then it doesn't really solve my problem 
(remember that this thread was originally about a highest rated list).

I would properly be better of with Dmitrys original suggestion.

However the possibility to ad normal content elements would still be a 
great innovation.
