[TYPO3] Problems with file upload plugin

Hi!

I have just installed the file upload plugin, and tried to configure it. On 
the page containing the plugin, I have added the following TSconfig:

 plugin.tx_fileupload_pi1.maxsize = 500000
 plugin.tx_fileupload_pi1.path = fileadmin/upload/
 plugin.tx_fileupload_pi1.FEuserHomePath = 0

However, the files are uploaded into fileadmin/$USER instead. Why are my 
settings ignored?
