TS is not hardcoded. You may change it in your TS-Setup. :-)

I choosed TS over HTML-Templates, because this extension was intended to 
be lightweighted and working out-of-the-box.

But most of the layout things you may change by CSS.

The teaser outputs "Category: Title" und a link to the the whole list. 
It displays random Ads.

For this, you can only use the standard listview. Right now, there is no 
  "latest view".

I put it on the wishlist. But honestly, I don't have much time for this 
right now.
