[TYPO3] FE-extension development - howto?

I'm really new to TYPO3 and extension building. I found the following 
very helpful for my learning:

    * Basic Extension Tutorial -

    * Coding Guidelines -
      http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/core-documentation/doc_core_cgl/current/
    * Look into the code of a few simple extensions to learn the basics,
      e.g. database calls, templating, global vars etc...
    * If there is an extension that is similar to the one you want then
      try extending it or simply create your own taking parts from other
      extensions (obviously give credit where credit is due)

Finally, I think the kickstart extension wizard IS the proper way to 
start building your own extension, though I probably won't know better 
as I'm still inexperienced :)
