Not really, I do see your point.  I disagree, and it might not be the 
best analogy but as I say I can see your point.

If you go to wikipedia/encyclopaedia/etc you'll find that cars use 
engines or motors. (Like wise in TSref you find out you can use 
globalstring.) If global string is synonymous with engine (many 
different global strings/engines) we can't really discuss them all or 
their merit at the point you mention. Again we can't the various ways of 
fitting various engines into the car at that point.

Ideally I think there needs to be a very comprehensive new version of 
typoscript by example that would accompany TSref.

Really this should be discussion for the documentation list. ;-) There 
ahd been discussion about a new version of TS by Example but I think it 
died. Likewise at last years T3 conf there was  BOF about documentation, 
and what could be done to improve that. so don't worry this isn't a new 
issue, and there are efforts being made to improve it.

Anyway just my 2p
