[TYPO3] building new extensions + extending existing extensions

Dear friends,

I am looking for some documentation on:

1) building new extensions
2) extending existing extensions

I already have the typo3 guidelines and the typo3 api document. I also have
kickstarter installed and made some use of it. They are very, very
difficult to use without being tutored through or without some basic
documentation.

I have been looking for tutorial and basic documentation in english for some
time now, but I have not found anything! Help!
