[TYPO3] Is htmlArea dead?

This page also says that htmlArea has been discontinued...

I feel that it is time for the Typo3 project to move to another editor. 
  I see TineRTE (based on TinyMCE) as a good choice, although that is 
just my personal opinion.

What do you think?  Should we start a debate over choosing a new default 
editor?  A proper discussion/analysis should lead us to a solid choice 
so that we can start to "Typo3ize" our new editor.
