[TYPO3] https_enforcer redirects to start page

Hello.

I'm trying to use https_enforcer for a few forms on our site. Instead it
redirects to the start page.

What can cause this? I have the secure root (which is identical with the
insecure root) correctly configured in the constant editor, the
typoscript template contains

page.5 < plugin.tx_httpsenforcer_pi1

and the pages are configured to use https. What else may I have missed?

I have changed the Typo3 roots twice in the last 24 hours. Can that be
the cause?
