[TYPO3] Typo 3 on windows 2003 server? (1-2-3 not working)

Hello all,
I want to try typo3. If it works as planned, I will have to rent a dedicated Linux server later, but as I own only a Win2k3 server, I try to get it running on this machine.
  a.. I use mySQL and Windows 2003Server
  b.. I added a new database and a user/password.
  c.. When I start the install 1-2-3 I get immediately an error: Warning: mysql_list_tables(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in D:\Websites\f22.eu\typo3\t3lib\class.t3lib_db.php on line 966 , but the rest of the page displays fine.
  d.. On step 2 the same error message and of course it does not work again.
Any idea where I can find a description about this error in my context (123 + mySQL + Win2k3)?
