[TYPO3] TinyRTE problem - blank screen

I found out that this was a language problem: Typo3 was configured to be 
Dutch, which TinyRTE could not handle.

Solution: install tinyRTE language pack :)

Thanks to some nice people in the Typo3 chat, who pointed me in the 
right direction.
