[TYPO3] can one change the text label for columns in BE ?

Is it possible to change the text labels for the columns in te BE

I want to name the columns more specifically for what they are for.... 
like I am using one for MAIN CONTENT and one for LEFT GUTTER... and I 
would like to call them that....

I see in TS Page config I can edit
mod.web_layout
to tuen the visibility of the columns on and off, but i don't see 
anything about column names (string)....


any ideas short of hacking into the system?
