I can confirm this, had the same problem at a customer of mine.

TYPO3 4.1.1
htmlArea RTE 1.5.2
Mac OS X 10.4.9
Safari 2.0.4

Unfortunately I have no idea yet how to solve this... Maybe someone here
knows?
