[TYPO3] Using extension templates

It might be that I have set up the extension templates wrongly. I  
have created these in the tree nodes where I want to override the  
image url, and added that one line to override it. But when I look in  
the template analyzer, it doesn't look like these extension templates  
inherit from the base template.

The tree:

Website
|- Home
|- News
|- Products
...

I added the extension templates in each of these branches (Home,  
News, Products, etc). Shouldn't it inherit automatically, or is this  
something I have to set up manually?
