[TYPO3] STATUS of "dates before 1970? + _EREG special mode in backend fields?"

hi.
i cannot put negative epoch-dates into 
fe_users dateofbirth field.
of cource in phpmyadmin, i can.

but in typo3-form its not recognized 
and will be resetted to 1-1-1970 (epoch).
basically i have the same problem as Klaus, here his post:

i would just like to get some idea of how i can fix it
so it could be put into typo3-core.
(i would say "forget about that windows- date restriction")

ideas appreciated where i could start.

p.s. we could just wait until all people born before 1970 die! ;-)
