True, it is strange but if you are seeing the <br /> in the source
before you save the page and the "/" is removed after you save it
then the issue is with the way your browser is saving the files not
with TYPO3 (as Tyler said). TYPO3 should be out of process once the
browser has initially received the page.
Good luck, these kinds of things are hard to nail down.
