[TYPO3] Chosing stdWrap for particualar content elements

I'm looking for a way to setup a few pre-defined content element
layouts, and allow to chose between them in the BE when editing a
content element.
Right now, I have had to resort to setting:
page.10.subparts.Content.subparts.colLeft.renderObj.stdWrap.wrap = <div
class="news_module"> | </div>
on the particular page I need this, which works but is a hack. I don't
necessarily want the same wrapping for -every- element in a column, nor
do I want to have to insert such a long and meaningless code into each
page I need that on. Of course I also do not want to apply this
site-wide for the same reasons.
Ideally, I could set up tmpl files for content elements and edit them
similarly to template files for most extensions. If I can't go this
far, then a simple div would be fine if I can enter the specific class
name from the BE.
Any help would be most appreciated!
Cheers,
Ryan
