You missed one thing from my reply: "new users" :) You are looking from 
perspective of advanced user, while I am thinking about newcomers.

Most users prefer that "Windows style". Clicking is easier and less 
error-prone than typing... This is a matter of personal taste of course 
but fact remains: there are far more Windows users around and not so 
many Linux users live without X these days.
