[TYPO3] Custom error pages

Hi

Is there a way to build custom error pages for database and other errors?

I found Dmitry's 'page not found' handling only:
http://news.typo3.org/news/article/typo3-4-0-1-404

What about other types of errors (primarily database related)? It would be 
nice to display some custom static HTML page.

BTW, is database connection problem written to some log file?
