PHP5 is no less stable in my opinion.  And my point was that *NEW* 
development shouldn't be based on old technology.  Of course the 
existing typo3 code still works with php4 and will continue to do so. 
Those people who want to take advantage of the NEW code, will have to 
upgrade.  It's really no big deal.

In the case of Apache, 1.x can still do nearly everything 2.x can do 
feature-wise (such as PHP5, SSL, etc.), that's why people have been slow 
in adopting it.  That's not the case with PHP.  In a very short time 
I've gotten PHP5's OO abilities really ingrained in my coding style, I 
couldn't go back at this point nor would I want to.
