[TYPO3] Different Backend view for different groups

Is it possible to modify the "colpos-list" variable on a per-usergroup
basis? I tried the following but it does not work:

[usergroup = 6]
   mod.SHARED.colPos_list = 1,0,2,3
[else]
   mod.SHARED.colPos_list = 0
[end]


[GLOBAL]

mod.SHARED{
   defaultLanguageFlag = fr.gif
   defaultLanguageLabel = French
}
====================================

I put this into the page properties of the first page of the site. But it
always acts as if colPos_list is set to 0. Even if I log-in as a user of
group "6"
