[TYPO3] tt_news categories

Hi,

I have trouble with the tt_news categories. No matter what I do, the
categories won't show up in the backend. I tried to "insert a new record"
with type "News Category" but it did not show up in in the tree view when
you enter a new news-record. I also tried to add a new category while
entering a new news-record (over the "plus" icon next to the tree view) but
it did not show up either.

Where should I look for errors?
