[TYPO3] Does the 1-2-3 install tool use DBAL?

I tried ignoring it, and went to the admin login screen instead. I 
cannot login here, I fill in "admin" and "password" but to no avail. I 
also get four of these at the to of the login screen:

*"Fejl ved kommunikationsforbindelsen" is Danish and means something 
like, "Error in communications link". Makes any sense? Any ideas?
