[TYPO3] Setting fields as 'required'

Hi guys,
Is there a TS or Page TSconfig way to set certain fields of the BE as
'required' fields?

It's possible to set fields as required in $TCA with the 'eval' key, but
that is meant for writing own extensions (or for messing around in the
source). But I need to be able to set fields as 'required' with a
backend way.
