[TYPO3] exec_INSERTquery what can I use for the sql NOW()?

Larf. I am just trying to get away from the non TYPO3 ways!

The TYPO3 EXT DBAL for v4.0 is in place already but I am using v3.8 and I
have not seen any documentation to explain if DB specific functions can be
passed easily.
