[TYPO3] bulleted lists

Using typo3-3.7.1

When I highlight an area in RTE

and select the bullet points icon,
  looks fine in the backend

when i view the page

I see this
<typolist>
item 1
item 2
item 3
</typolist>

Works fine on two other sites.

Any suggestions?
