[TYPO3] RTE HTML Area stoped working after upgrade

I noticed that the html area extension I was using on my Typo3 3.7.0 website
was ver 0.4.0.  I also noticed that the html area extension I was using on
my Typo3 3.8.0 website was ver 1.2.0, so I figured I should upgrade the
extension on the 3.7 site.  This was apparently a bad idea, because since I
upgraded the extension I get "*Fatal error*: Call to undefined function:
fullquotestr() in *
/home/pdohara/www/typo3conf/ext/rtehtmlarea/class.tx_rtehtmlarea_base.php*on
line
*437*" whenever I try to edit content.  I assume that the issue is that the
1.2.0 version of HTMLArea requires Typo3 3.8.  Can anyone tell me what
version of HTML Area I can get to on 3.7?
