[TYPO3] moving the backend to a secure domain

Hi All,

We've just published our first 2 sites in typo3, and the customers are very
happy! Thanks for all the hard work guys.

My question is this: how can I move the backend to a secure domain?

I would also like to put the BE into a subdirectory so that I don't have to
get a secure domain for every customer.

e.g.
FE
http://www.mytyposite.com

BE
https://www.mysecuredomain/mytyposite

I've tried to do this with Apache's Alias Directive (in the secure
virtualhost) like this:
Alias /mytyposite /www/mytyposite/htdocs/typo3

The BE *partly* works using this method, but images+other stuff throw 404's.
Previewing pages doesn't work either, as it's using to the secure domain.

Any help much appreciated.
