[TYPO3] [direct_mail] error creating mail

Hi all,
 
I'm trying to get started with direct_mail but get the following error
when clicking 'Create new direct mail based on this page'
 
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in
/www/typo3_src-4.0/t3lib/class.t3lib_tstemplate.php on line 690
 
At line 690 (function versionOL) I have:
$GLOBALS['TSFE']->sys_page->versionOL('sys_template',$row); 
 
Does anyone have an idea what the problem is here? I'm running typo3 4.0
and the latest direct_mail version too.
