[TYPO3] cannot see all the extensions in the online repository?

I am experiencing similar problems. I've already tried

> ext. manager -> settings -> turn on "unsupported ext".
> 
> if it does not help
> remove extensions.bin and extensions.xml.gz from typo3temp

without any success, and when trying

> install ext. Light Extension Manager (ch_lightem)

I get a message saying "No matching extensions found.". I really don't 
have any clue what I am doing wrong -- any idea? (I'd be glad if someone 
could tell me which URL he/she has entered for the mirror list -- mine 
is http://repositories.typo3.org/mirrors.xml.gz)
