Great!
I can make use of this also.
When ever I make a manual install of typo3, I always get permission
problems.
In the config. File of the manual install I noticed no permission set as
stated below.

I usually install with Fantastico and have no problems as everything is auto
configured.

Have you encountered some situation where no possible value set in
$GLOBALS['TYPO3_CONF_VARS']['BE']['folderCreateMask'] is correct? If
so, does it seem to be a TYPO3 bug, or a problem with your server
environment?
