[TYPO3] Kickstarter and MySQL field size

Hi,
 
When I create a field for a table in Kickstarter, it seems that the maximum size for a string/text is 255 caracters. Changing that value in MySQL directly works fine, until I get back to Kickstarter which forces me to ALTER back to 255 caracters.
 
Is there anything to do to have for example a 40000 caracs. string (it is handled by MySql for the release used by TYPO4)
