... or, maybe an other possibility (but I'm no Typo3 crack):

I added to the end of typo3conf/localconf.php

$typo_db_extTableDef_script = "extTables.php";

In typo3conf/extTables.php I wrote

<?php
$GLOBALS['TCA']['tx_pbsurvey_item']['answers']['config']['wizards']['hideParent'] = NULL
?>

Shouldn't this work also?
(Unfortunately it doesn't)
