[TYPO3] frontend showing the text in wrong character

Hello List,
I'm a typo3 newbie. I'm currently working on a site which will introduce 
typo3 to the turkish cms community.
I have written the following text:

TYPO3 Danimarkli olan Kasper Skårhøj tarafindan gelistirilmis bir IYS 
(içerik yönetim sistemi) dir.
Ilk TYPO3 versiyon 1998 yayinlandi. Zamanla TYPO3 toplulugu geliserek su an 
ki takim olustu.
Takim hakkinda daha fazla bilgiyi edinmek için buraya tiklayiniz.

When I enter this in the HTMLArea editor the page is shown as following in 
the frontend:

geli&#351;tirilmi&#351; bir &#304;YS (içerik yönetim sistemi) dir. &#304;lk 
TYPO3 versiyonu 1998 y&#305;l&#305;nda yayinland&#305;. Zamanla TYPO3 
toplulu&#287;u geli&#351;erek su an ki tak&#305;m olu&#351;tu. Takim

What is wrong here?
