[TYPO3] Ideas for a historical/geographic guide?

Perhaps 1/2 OT ...

I'm looking for ideas of how to implement a guide. Due to lack of budget 
it has to be core or available extensions:

Several historical Sites (of a certain kind) should be described. A 
record should contain the following categories:

- name of "object"
- description of physical site
- historical description
- directions, location plan
- links and related infos
- photos
Should be multilanguage (e/f/d)

Frontend editing (Wiki-style?) with selfregistered users (hobby 
historians etc.) might be preferable over BE-editors.

Options discussed so far:
- tt_news with FE-editing ext. (news_feedit, sg_newsplus)
- one of the T3 wikis
- a combination of both

Problem: no explicit categories per record ...

Any further ideas? Thanks!
