[TYPO3] Question about the shop system

I have installed the tt_products extension to setup a shop on my site -- but
when I go to add categories, I get the following errors.

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result

Warning: mysql_free_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result

any ideas why this is ... more importantly, how to fix it?
