[TYPO3] PHP 4.4.1 + Front End User Registration :(

Has anyone tried running Front End User Registration 2.2+ with PHP 
4.4.1? The extension does not seem to be able to send emails using PHP 
4.4.1.

At first I thought it was the extension or my mail server. Then I 
downgraded to PHP 4.3.10 and everything is works now like before.
