This is one of the reasons, why I'm using MTB.
Some months ago I asked B. Kraft to do to this matter something.
He promised to create a plugin, which could have a proper
template selector. Presumably Berhard has not have time for it.

The most important issue, why I personally don't use TemplaVoila is 
however that I could build for TemplaVoila excellent frontend editing.
I got much better frontend editing for MTB.

With AJAX-based dragndrop it is much easier to move content elements 
from place to place than using standard MTB or TemplaVoila in BE-editing.

What I'm missing - AJAX-based frontend dragndrop - it got from
Maximo Cuaros a visual demo for frontend dragndrop.
Because it was just a visual demo and it didn't saved changes into 
database, it took the demo off. It was quite a big disappointment to 
find that it was just a visual demo. If it would have worked the
frontend editing would have been quite perfect.
