[TYPO3] RTE: Span tags being removed from content

Span tags are being removed from RTE content. I'd like that behavior  
to stop. I'm using Typo3 3.8.1 and rtehtmlarea 1.3.X. The above link  
points to the my RTE configuration.

Span is in my allowTags and parser tags.

Any help is appreciated.
