[TYPO3] Duplicate pictures using tt_news

Hi,

 

We have a website running typo3 and are running out of disk space. This is
mainly due to a large folder uploads/pics which contains pictures related to
tt_news items. We have seen that this folder contains a large amount of
duplicates. 

 

I have tested a bit and I found out that each time an item is made using a
picture, a duplicate is made. Even if the picture that I use is already
available through the filelist or has been made available in uploads/pics
already by another news item.

 

Do you know a way to prevent the duplication of the pictures?
