[TYPO3] xhtml compliance and newloginbox

Hi friends,

I am using the newloginbox plugin in my template but even after setting

config.doctype = xhtml_trans
config.xhtml_cleaning = all

the plugin renders it's links with the "&" char instead of "&", do I 
require to check anymore settings or set some more values somewhere? I 
am not able to find anything in the manual for the plugin.
